CANARY INTENDED ACRES::2008 was 415000acres,,,2009 planned 300000 ,,this should support better prices despite the reduced export demand due to the economic times

SEEDING INTENTIONS::a 25% increase in LENTIL acres is slightly less then expected, the main part of the increase will be reds, with some increase also in large greens at the cost of small green acres..effect on prices,,not much..Pipeline will be dry by end of may,Turkish production will take them to the end of Ramadan, the demand for canadian lentils will come just as we start our harvest.New crop contracts have moved to a level that looks very inviting for growers,,The cold spring and delayed seeding can have a major impact on lentil production

The red lentil shortfall has pulled both large and small green lentils up ...Export sales have slowed slightly as prices rise and markets get more cautious...demand for lentils will remain strong for all of 2009 2010 crop year...Canary market may move up slightly if seeded acres drop in the april 24th intended seeded acres report
